How to Update Kali Linux

This day Offensive Security offers us Kali linux in version 2. If you want to update your previous version (1; x), you need to start by editing the /etc/apt/sources.list file so that the package manager (apt) then take into account new specially created packages, for that, it just add the following lines to the file /etc/apt/sources.list:

deb http://http.kali.org/kali sana main non-free contrib
deb http://security.kali.org/kali-security/ sana/updates main contrib non-free

Share new packages to your system:

apt-get update

Update the OS (Offensive Security we recommend to drink 10 coffees during this stage  ):

apt-get dist-upgrade

Restart to take into account changes.
